As the fall quarter wraps up, I am deeply engaged in CBT training with the Beck Institute. These trainings have been stimulating and rewarding, and they are helping me acquire skills that will serve me well in the upcoming internships. With this focus, I am taking a short pause from posting on the blog for the next few weeks.

During this time, in addition to completing the CBT trainings, I will also revise my resume. This task is more than just updating a document. Somehow, it is about recalibrating how I present my professional journey. Transitioning from a career in higher education to one in counseling requires a shift in emphasis, with elements like association memberships and service to the field taking precedence over previous focal points like publications.
This process also prompts a reflection on my evolving professional identity. Balancing my background in education with the emerging identity of a counselor creates an opportunity to shape a strong and cohesive narrative. It is an effort to showcase the ways my past experiences enhance the counselor I am becoming while carefully considering how to represent this growth to potential internship sites.
The blog will resume in the first full week of January 2025, coinciding with the start of Winter Term. During that quarter, I will be taking courses in Addiction Counseling and Psychopharmacology. My first post of the new year will be about these classes, as they promise to add important layers to my understanding of the field.
Until then, I hope you have a restful end-of-year break. Thank you for following along on this journey, and I look forward to reconnecting with you in January.
