This Blog Was Never Just About School

Over the past three years, this blog has become much more than a place to document milestones or reflections about graduate school. What began as a way to process and record my experiences in the counseling program slowly evolved into a living archive of growth, challenge, and connection.

When I first started writing here, I wanted a space where I could reflect on the journey of becoming a counselor. I hoped it would help me make sense of the many lessons, emotions, and experiences that come with entering this profession later in life while balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities. What I did not anticipate was how much this blog would also become a place to celebrate community.

One of the greatest gifts this experience gave me was the opportunity to introduce many of my incredible peers and professors to readers through interviews, conversations, and shared stories. Along the way, I met people whose insight, compassion, humor, and resilience left a lasting impact on me. Being able to highlight some of their voices here has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project.

However, one question continued to linger in the back of my mind: what happens to this blog once graduation arrives?

For a long time, I viewed the blog as something tied specifically to graduate school. I wondered whether crossing the graduation stage would naturally signal the end of this space. Would there still be something meaningful to say once the structure of classes, assignments, internship hours, and academic quarters came to an end?

Well, that stage has now arrived.

And after reflecting on it for quite some time, I have decided that this blog will continue.

While my time in the counseling program is ending, my journey into this profession is only beginning. Graduation marks a transition into a new phase filled with new questions, challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities for growth. The path toward licensure, professional identity, and long-term practice deserves reflection too.

And this blog will evolve alongside me.

I plan to continue documenting parts of the licensing process and the early stages of professional practice. The frequency of posts may vary more now that I will no longer have the rhythm of the academic calendar guiding me, but I still want this space to remain active and intentional.

I also hope to continue sharing reflections on moments of insight, lessons learned, and thoughts that emerge as I move deeper into this field. Some posts may be practical, some personal, and others simply reflective pauses to process what this profession teaches us about people, relationships, and ourselves.

And perhaps most importantly, I want to continue making space for others. One thing supervision has taught me is that counseling does not have to be a solitary profession. We learn from one another. We grow through dialogue, mentorship, and shared experience. Because of that, I plan to continue opening this platform to colleagues through interviews and guest posts that highlight the many different paths people take within this profession.

To everyone who has read, supported, encouraged, or contributed to this blog so far: thank you.

This next chapter will look different, and I am excited to keep writing it.
